Lions

One of Babu's friend had an open house just after Chinese New Year. As well as lots of lovely local food, they also invited a troop of lion dancers to perform. There were 2 lions, called Maggi (yellow) and Milo (green). Actually these are a couple of very popular brand names in Malaysia - Maggi instant noodles and Milo chocolate drink.

It wasn't the first time William has seen lion dancers. During the Chinese New Year period, we often came across lion dance performances in the shopping malls, and on some occassions we got very close to them, and the noise. Actually William didn't seem too interested in all the fuss!

When Maggi and Milo were dancing, William was held by one of Babu's friends and at one point the lions were about 2 feet away from him. He didn't even flinch! After the performance, we got a chance to be photographed with the lions Maggi and Milo. The lions were sat side by side and we stood between them. Suddenly, they moved closer to us. I was a bit surprised and worried that they might upset William by being so close and touching us. But when I looked down, I saw that William wasn't scared, in fact he was trying to touch and pull Milo's ears!!
