William was born with a full head of dark hair and quite a low hairline at the back so he looked like he had a mullet. Some of his hair was about 2 inches long at birth. The photo on the left was taken when he was about 2 weeks old.
However they have started to fall out which is normal. He is looking progressively bald. Not only that, he has developed a bald spot at the back of his head. This is where his head touches the bed, car seat and push chair, and since he started looking around more and turning his head from side to side, the hair in that spot broke off. It's quite funny that the hair below the spot near his neck remains thick and full... not rubbed off nor falled out. In fact most of our baby friends have that very becoming hairstyles! The photo on the right was taken on 1 January 2008.
Ladies do not lose much hair when they are pregnant. Not sure why, maybe it is to make their head look bigger and therefore balances out the big tummy? It was nice not to have clumps of hair in the plughole and in my hairbrush for almost 1 year. However, it has started to fall out for me too. Apparently when baby's hair falls out so does mummy's. Oh well, at least there's less hair on your head to care for when you are busy caring for a baby (but hair all over the bed, floor, brush, plughole, baby's hand, everywhere!)
